Biographies
Yasmin Becker – CEO, IStructE
Yasmin joined the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) in 2023, having successfully led the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK since 2017 where she established its strategy and directed domestic and global operations.
With an extensive career spanning the private, public and charity sectors, Yasmin possesses a wealth of experience in developing strategies, growing international partnerships, and delivering complex transformations across multiple organisations.
Mohamad Al-Dah – President, IStructE
Mohamad was born in Dubai in 1979 and graduated with an MEng from the University of Oxford in 2002. He then worked at Arup UK as a structural engineer from 2002 until 2009, where he developed an interest in renovating old buildings in the UK and around the world. Mohamad became Chartered in 2008 and a Fellow in 2016. He joined Dubai Land Department in 2009 and is currently the Director at the Jointly Owned Properties Department, Real Estate Regulatory Agency. He founded the Real Estate Appraisal Centre and authored the Emirates Book Valuation Standards in 2010. He also oversaw the signing of the MOU between the IStructE and Dubai Land Department in 2019.
Mohamad will be presenting a keynote address: “Structural Engineering in an AI World” at the 2025 SESOC Conference in Wellington on Thursday 26th May.
