ASB WATERFRONT THEATRE
The ASB Waterfront Theatre is a new theatre complex in the Wynyard Quarter on Auckland's waterfront designed by Moller Architects and BGT Structures. The complex will house a 600-seat theatre, built specifically to showcase theatre and dance, along with a 200-seat flexible studio space in the adjacent ASB Head Office development, an 80-seat meeting room and gallery, courtyard, bar and café.
Structural features and construction issues are as follows;
- Constructed on a brownfield, contaminated site
- Partial reuse of existing piles from the previous 4 storey Sandford building
- PDA testing of existing and new piling
- 7 storey’s with partial floors incorporating a complex array of seating, fly galleries, and back of house spaces
- Structural steel frame with Composite flooring
- Seismically braced with CBF Frames
- Fire rating, acoustic, tolerance and vibration issues
- Complex fit out and client brief
